The University of Sunderland’s The Enterprise Place, based in Hope Street Xchange, is a safe environment for students and graduates to research, test & launch their own business or freelance career.
Membership of The Enterprise Place is awarded upon a successful application process and pitch to a panel. Members then gain access to a host of benefits, including:
- Free hot desk space and IT resources
- Specialist advice and support
- Enterprise master classes
- Access to business specialists and networking opportunities
The Enterprise Place currently offers support to a variety of businesses run by students and graduates. These start-up businesses include franchises, counselling services, video production companies, fashion brands, software development, graphic design and even a dog café. There are many students and graduates who access the support to create a freelance career utilising the skills they developed during their studies such as photography, glass making and radio production. There are also many business ideas hatched here which have no relation to the degree which the students and graduates have studied.
The Enterprise Place is a one-stop shop bringing together budding entrepreneurs at all stages of their development and is the perfect environment for entrepreneurial students and graduates from any discipline to turn their business ideas into reality.
In the last week one of our graduate entrepreneurs, Fern Snailham, was awarded a Duke of York Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. Fern was recognised for her work as the founder of Uneek Staffing, a promotional staffing agency which provides hand-pick, quality staff for a variety of clients
The Enterprise Place have many success stories of student and graduate start-ups who continue to grow from strength to strength here in the North East and nationwide.
