Tomorrow (Tuesday 13th February) we celebrate our first birthday at Hope Street Xchange, so we’re taking a look back on 2017, and what a year it was!
We welcomed our first tenants to the building all the way back in February 2017 and the ball didn’t stop rolling from there. Springtime saw our first events held in our bespoke Enterprise & Innovation Suites, with the 8th March playing host to a fantastic celebration for International Women’s day 2017.
The FabLab opened its doors in March, moving from Shackleton House to level 0 of Hope Street Xchange. Such a fantastic opportunity for collaboration!
In May our cafe started serving some of the most delicious fare in Sunderland, in a cosy atmosphere where you can sip your coffee under the artwork of internationally acclaimed artist Lothar Goetz, who unveiled his work earlier in the year.
We also had a string of celebrity visitors to the building, all hoping to experience the wonderful innovative nature of Hope Street Xchange, these included; Jermain Defoe, Paula Radcliffe, Vince Cable and Jake Berry!
Over the year we raised over £1000 for charity, with bake sales, a bikeathon and our resident RSPB badge box.
We would like to thank all of our tenants, supporters, visitors and staff for their continued support over the past year. 2017 saw lots of exciting events, VIP guests and wonderful tenants come through our doors, here’s to 2018 and even more excitement to come!
